Today I took my measurements, I'm glad I didn't take them before I lost some weight, it was frightful, lol. So now I can track bothmeasurements and weight. It is pretty thrilling to see some results of my efforts. It seems Iike I had so much to lose, since I hit a plateau and didn't know how ot get off of it, it feels really good to be back at it again.
It took me quite a while and 3 tries to get the My Fitness Pal tracker on my signature. I'm usually on an ipad and the link would copy but it wouldn't paste. I finally gave it a couple of tries on my computer and got it to work. I wish I had the little guy chasing like you have Barbara but the flower will have to do for now.
No exercising today, grrr. My husband and I went out for a ride and got home on the late side. I had hoped to fit some in but didn't.
Barbara-the back is such a difficult injury. My father, 2 of my brothers and my husband all have back problems. My husband broke his back many yeers ago. I hope you aren't in too much pain.

So happy for you Cyn...you are back on track and out of LIMBO LAND. Measuring is a good way to stay motivated because sometimes we lose inches but not weight. Rule of thumb for measuring your stomach area is to make sure the measuring tape is always at your navel...otherwise you will get different results all the time. Keeping it in the same spot keeps the measurement correct.
I like your "ticker". I have an IPAD but frankly, I like using my lap top for most of my Internet stuff. I maintain 3 different web sites and I don't think the Ipad is user friendly enough for it. It's a hassel using it. I use mine for "facetime", and watching movies or TV from Amazon Prime or Netflix in bed at night. I will check my FB on it sometimes too. Glad you got it to work. All you have to do is click on it to change your weight too...you don't have to copy and paste it again. When you enter your weight on their site it automatically updates it on here.
My back issues came from 2 different car accidents years ago. Gaining weight did not help but it's a catch 22 because the back issues got in the way of my physical activity levels. I was always thin and physicaly fit but gradually the weight came on due to not being active enough. ugh! Hoping this diet will help me get moving.

So was there fasting going on today? We just stayed home so it's a fast day for me. I had a bunch of perennials to put in the garden, it's been rainiing for days, so I got many in today since the sun came out. No "workout" but I figured I worked out in the garden. I may be sore tomorrow. Fasting has gone well today so far. Last night and this morning I was dreading it but again, it's not nearly as difficult as I make it out to be in my head...plus IM LOSING WEIGHT!!! Barbara-I have no idea how you do all you do on the computer. I'm pretty good with computers but no where's near anything you can do. Good for you! And good for us I read some of your blog today, very nice. I have no imagination when it comes to cooking so I need all the help I can get. I can't eat eggs or cheese or wheat so it really cuts into what I can have. I'm sorry to her about your car accidents/back problems. I read about another woman that injured her back and gained a bunch of weight from inactivity, it sucks. I gained my weight from medications. I have always been of normal weight or underweight. I had 2 brothers that were terminally ill at the same time so I went to see a dr and she prescribed antidepressants for me. I gained a lot of weight but didn't realize it cuz I had never gained weight before. We were staying with one of my brothers to care for him and his also sick wife and I didn't have a scale. By the time my second brother died I had gained about 55 pounds (in 1 1/2 years). Right after my second brother passed my third brother had a brain injury, he passed out from stress and was hospitalized for months. I waited til he was back on his feet to go off my meds but by then had gained 65 pounds. Luckily, I did need 25 of those pounds so at least I don't have to take off all 65. Before we stayed with my brother I had been exercising on a regular basis but when I picked it back up it was like I never exercised at all, ugh. I didn't mean to ramble. I feel confident I can continue the fast for tonight. My sister in law called and asked us to go out to eat tomorrow night...I love this diet...out to eat with no worries! I love this diet as much as one can love a diet, lol.

I love this diet as much as one can love a diet, lol. Ramble on...there's not many people here doing that so go for it. LOL I really love this diet too Cyn...for those very reasons. I can fully understand the stress of dealing with loved ones who are terminal. Stress can put a lot of weight on you. I dealt with my mother and then I took care of my Dad who had Alzheimer's Disease for close to 2 years here at our house...........talk about stress. ugh! He passed away last summer at the age of 89. It was a nightmare caring for someone with that disease and all I did was drink wine and eat. ugh! So I can fully understand the positon you were in. Now we have a diet that we can count on even when under stress. If I am really stressed on a fast day..then I don't do it that day. I skip and and do it the next day. That's the beauty of this way of eating. Today was a fast day for us and it was easier then my last one. No stress today!

I can't believe I ever (ever!) getting depressed about things pertaining to exercising/dieting/weight when I read stories like you two have and what you've gone through. Cyn, so sorry to hear about your brothers and Barb, your Dad. I'm lucky to say that I still have my Mom who will turn 91 in August with no health problems to speak of. Reading your postings here, I am wanting to rededicate myself to doing what needs to be done re my exercise/diet routines and to stop feeling sorry for myself and getting depressed over "things". Cyn, do antidepressants make you gain weight or make it difficult to lose weight? I take Wellbutrin.........just wondering.
The sun is out, it's a beautiful day, and we are the lucky ones to have found 5:2 and to know (like Cyn says) that we can go out to dinner with no guilt and that we also have the choice to change our fasting day if it doesn't fit in with our social schedule ( like Barb said). YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! (I'm fighting my demons here and heading back to positive thoughts!!!)

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! (I'm fighting my demons here and heading back to positive thoughts!!!) Steph...you just proved to me that forums like these are so important. Struggling with life, health issues alone is totally not necessary when there is so much support out there to help us focus on what we need to do to keep our focus and our sanity. I will never ever forget the " Alzhiemer's forum" I belonged too for the 2 years I took care of my Dad. I don't think I could have gotten thru it as well as I did without it. So much information and support at my finger tips. It was a life saver and a place I came to every day, every night to deal, to vent, to maintain my own sanity because I was literally caring for a man who was "insane". My husband works at night and I was alone...so I had to lock my bedroom door to stay safe because my Dad was delusional and towards the end he was aggressive and hard to handle. All the more reason for the forums that gave me adise and support. Soooo I am glad, that for now at least we have the 3 of us who get that and stop by and chat now and then. I do wish I could encourage others to use this forum like we do.

I worked out in my garden today and I sweat so much it feels Like I must have lost 10 pounds! Husband and I went out to dinner with his sister and we had a real nice meal. At the end of the meal my SIL said (get ready) "have you 2 lost weight? You sure look Like you have". Woo Hoo!!!! Awesome! It felt real good Barb-I can only imagine how it must have been dealing with your father, it's such a sad, horrible disease. I have to commend you for caring for him. It's real tough being the caretaker. In my family it's cancer, it's done a huge number on my family, all different kinds too. At least I didn't have to lock myself in my bedroom. Poor you. Forums are great and I'm so glad you two are here. Maybe some day we'll get more but for now this is good. I look forward to hearing from you both. I had a pretty hefty surgery years ago and relied heavily on a forum. There are some great people in the world and now we can connect with so many more on the Internet. Stephie-I'm so glad you are recommitting yourself. I found myself waning this week but when I put that shirt on and my gut wasn't hanging out I got some wind in my sails. How's the Zumba Gold? Did it come yet? My father's wife needs to diet, she's done weight watchers before and bought the Paleo Diet book but she thought it would be too hard. Guess who visited Amazon and sent her the 5:2 book? Lol. She emailed me today and said she seriously thinking of trying it. I sure hope so. I want to keep her healthy, for one thing she's doing a great job caring for my dad!

Zumba Gold is scheduled to arrive today. I wonder if I'll push myself doing it at home as much as I do in the class I attend. I made one of those fitness thingies. Hopefully it will appear in my post otherwise I'll try to do it again. I also changed my avatar. I wanted to be honest about how much weight I have to lose and also by updating a more recent photo of me (from last week). Can I ask why you two don't have your photos here?

Stephie-I forgot to answer your question about antidepressants and weight gain. Some people gain a lot on them and some don't. Did you notice if you gained when you went on it? I was on Prozac and the weight gain was tremendous, I was also on one many years ago and I gain about 30 pounds then but it came right off as soon as I went off of it. My oldest brother and my best friend we both on Wellbutrin and both gained a lot of weight on it but I know its supposed to be one of the better ones for not gaining weight.
With the Zumba at home why don't you just focus on learning the steps better before you go for the calorie burn? I have 2 left feet (but love to dance) so I go back and forth on the step lessons and doing the first video. Let me know how you like the DVD. You're doing great going to the classes! Keep up the good work!
And your pic looks good. Is hubby on the diet too? I have never put a pic of me on the Internet, lol. I really don't even have a lot of me, I'm usually behind the camera. My oldest daughter wanted to put a pic of us on Facebook for Mother's Day but she couldn't find one! I'll look and see if I have any. Is it hard to put it on here? My arms and legs have some weight but I carry most of mine in the front torso area, right where they say is the worst area to carry it! I remind myself of my paternal grandmother. She was a lovely woman but I don't want her body shape, lol. I'm 5'2" with very light skin and light hair.
I worked out in the garden again today with hubby helping. 5 hours out there! Ugh, my body is killing me. I'm so out of shape, I used to be able to work outside all day and take care of a family. I hope with the weight off and getting exercise that I will finally feel Iike I'm alive again. I feel better than I did a year ago but I have a long way to go! I'm glad were all taking this journey together.
Barbara-I was on my phone looking for this site and it didn't come up when I googled for it. Do you know why this would happen? Maybe that's why others haven't come, maybe they haven't found the board yet?

I started the Wellbutrin when I quit smoking 5 years ago. So between the weight gain and it being so difficult to actually lose weight, I don't want to "blame" it on anything but myself, but I know lots of people gain weight when they stop smoking too. I'm 5'8" with brown hair that wants to be white (haha) and olive skin. Yes, hubby is on the diet too but on his fasting days, he eats NOTHING. I don't know how he does it! He has such discipline and resolve. I probably will do that with the Zumba - learn the steps before the calorie burn. I'm having a houseful of company for the day on Friday so I have a lot of cooking to do and stuff which means I probably won't get to doing the zumba dvd until Saturday. I really am looking forward to it.

I will post a "before" ( younger skinnier years ) and an "after"...my heaviest year a few years ago. I don't have any real recent body pics because I won't let anyone take my pic any lower than my chest. LOL At least not till I lose some more weight. I don't want to make any pics my avatar because the avatar I have now is the same as the image I have on my FB site. So here goes.

Not sure why it does not come up on google Cyn...I submitted it to google, but I think there is just too much competition. Maybe if you google "52fastdiet.proboards" it will come up. I adverstise this forum on my FB page all the time. I have close to 700 member likes. I have tons of "guest" that stop by and browse but they don't post. I think we also have 29 regestered members but you and Steph seem to be the only ones who are interested in posting. Very frustrating. I do post links to this forum on other forums but I don't know what else to do.
As for posting your pic for your avatar....all you have to do is "upload" one from your computer. Go to "edit profile" there's an area to pic an avatar or to pic a photo from your computer.

Oh, you two are killing me, lol. I tried to get several pics of myself today but all were terrible then I found one taken in April on my birthday but when I loaded it up it doesn't look too good. Maybe I can figure out how to fix it tomorrow so you can see me better. My youngest daughter bought me some workout clothes and I was trying them on and she snapped a pic. Barb-the pic of you as a young woman...you are beautiful. I agree with you both, it's nice to see a pic of who we are talking to. I'll try to find better ones.
How did you two do today for fasting? Did you fast? I did. Again I had such a hard time from about 2:30-5 then all was good. I was in the car a lot today and I love to eat in the car so that's probably what made my harder. I made it through so I am pleased. I did some walking today but nothing that expended too much energy. Hopefully tomorrow.
Stephie-my husband can also go all day without eating, not me for sure. Is he losing at a faster rate doing that? I hope you're not working too hard preparing for your guests. Are you still in Florida? Getting quite warm down there for sure. We are having a heat wave here, supposed to last through Sunday.
Barbara-I was just hoping this site would show up on google so we could offer more help. Most of what comes up are articles on the diet. Too bad, you've worked so hard here more people could benefit from it. As time goes on I'm sure more people will come.

Cyn - Thanks for posting the picture - it's small so it's hard to see your face. And your body looks like what I'd like my body to look like after I lose 60lbs!
Yup, I cooked as much as I could yesterday to there was less to do today. This morning I did more prep work. Now, after vacuuming and straightening up, I need to take another shower!
I leave Florida on 6/15 and go to Long Island for a few weeks to visit with 3 of my children there (I also have a son in Texas)before heading upstate to our little trailer in the woods. We'll had back down here in October.
Fasted yesterday. My hardest time during the day is dinnertime and beyond. I didn't do as well as I could have. But I always feel like that on my fasting days because I never am able to keep it at 500 calories. I guess it's still good enough to lose slowly and I'm sure eating healthy (weight watchers) most of the weeks helps too. I need much (much!) more exercise but everytime I think about it (going for walk, riding bike, tennis), I never follow through. I'm certainly not pushing myself here..........Yikes, I hate even re-reading what I've written!!

However, I do have an average of 50 "guest" views a day so people are finding it...but they are not registering....just viewing.
My hubby is losing weight faster than me too.....I did not lose even one ounce for 2 weeks so far. I am not surprised! Every diet I do is difficult and take me far longer to lose than other people. I am diabetic and insulin resistant which makes it so hard to lose. I have to starve myself. However, I am not going to stop. Next week will be better because I've realized that I am one of those people who cannot eat what ever they want on "non fast" days. Nope...not me! I have to at least make sure I don't over do it and try to be more mindful of portions etc. Ugh...Monday starts a new fast week...good luck every one!

My husband is a wonderful man but a lousy photographer, lol. I had him take about 10 pics between yesterday and today and I have a couple that are ok so I will try to put them here. Hmmm, I just tried to put them in the post l Iike Barb did but it didn't work on my ipad. After I type this ill try to change my profile pic. I have a face one and a body one I wanted you two to see. I don't have any pics at my heaviest cuz I wouldn't let anyone take my pic. Actually there are a couple at my daughters baby shower but I'm hiding my body behind a chair, sigh.
Sephie-was your party today? I hope it goes well for you. Nice arrangement spending winters in Florida and summers up north. I lived in Florida for 10 years, too hot for me. I missed the trees, hills and winter believe it or not. Where is your son in Texas? I have a daughter outside of Dallas.
The pic I posted makes me look thinner than I am, if you look close you'll see rolls, ugh. I've already lost 23 pounds before I went on the 5:2 diet. I'll weigh myself tomorrow but I don't think I've lost any weight. I believe I'm also one that can't eat what I want on regular days and I believe I have to exercise. One of my daughters had gained weight after she got married then went on weight watchers but didn't lose til she exercisd then she lost all she wanted to. I think it's cuz we are short. Maybe we should all make some type of exercise pact?
Barbara-I wonder if people are afraid of this diet? Whenever I tell anyone I'm on it they all think I'm crazy. I think unless you read the book or watch the 1 hour video you don't understand the benefits of this diet. Is this diet safe for diabetics? Just curious. My father is diabetic and my daughter was when she was pregnant. Neither needs to lose weight.
I'll change my profile pic (try anyway). How do I put a pic in the body of my post?

Cyn - my son lives north of Dallas in McKinney (by Frisco and Plano). I land in Dallas when I go there.
Company just left - long day and I'm exhausted. I'm going to sleep like a log when my head hits that pillow. Goodnight and "see" you tomorrow.

Well, I did my Saturday morning weigh in and I didn't lose ANY weight! Ugh! FRUSTRATING! But, I didn't formerly work out at all this week, I only busted my butt in the yard so I guess that doesn't count. I have already worked today and will try to be more faithful about it.
I have been talking to a woman on Facebook, she's involved in Beachbody but is doing a "challenge" group. She decided to do one for people who aren't buying her stuff right now, it's for clean eating and working out. I decided to try it and she said if I knew anyone else interested to let them know. So, if you are interested let me know and I'll give you the info. I don't really know much about it but I need all the help I can get.
I've also been watching a couple of documentaries on Netflix about food and one guy said something that makes sense to me. He said before you put the junk or not so great food in your mouth to eat something healthy first, then eat your junk. He said after a while your body will want the healthy stuff and not the crap. I will also give this a try though I don't eat too much food that's bad.
Stephie-I've driven through McKinney. My husband and I have driven out to Texas a couple of times and in an effort to avoid Dallas we went north through McKinney. My daughter lives very close to the airport so you've been real close to her house too.
Hope you 2 are well today. It's sooo hot up here today, in the 90's-New Englanders don't like the 90’s-lol.

I like your new picture Cyn...Good job! I know what you mean, it takes about 10 tries before my hubby gets a picture right. I am the camera person in our house. LOL As for putting pics inside your post...that's easy if you know how to upload pics to a "picture hosting" site like "Picture Trail", Snapfish or Flicker. You upload pictures to their hosting site and then you copy the URL of the picture. Then you go to the option above where it say's "insert image" ....it's the 3rd picture button. It may be too complicated if you've never done it. Maybe your daughter can show you. Things are easier sometimes if someone shows rather than explains it. I decide to eat light this week due to not losing any weight. That is not exceptable to me...so I have to do something different. Hopeing next weigh day is more promising.

I know some people are afraid of this diet...my husband was till he watched the video. I have copies of it in one of the threads. Many people think it's a "no food" fast. I have always been inquisitive so that is why I looked further into it and discovered what it is really all about. And I am glad I did. I am glad my husband watched the video. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. As for diatbetic's. I am diabetic. However I am Type 2. Type 1's cannot do this diet. Type 2's just have to keep an eye on their blood sugar but I know my body and I know when my sugar is up and when it is down without testing. I can feel it. This diet has not caused any alarming highs or lows at this point so I feel safe in doing it.

Another fast day and it's going we'll so far. Weird how some days it's so hard and others I kind of breeze right through. I was in the car again today and it wasn't any where's near as difficult as being in the car last Thursday. I had several stressors going on today and I tend to be less hungry under stress so maybe that has something to do with it.
Barbara-the picture loading is beyond me, lol. Guess I'll just have to change my profile pic from time to time.
I'm glad to hear about the diabetes working out for you with this diet. My daughter and I were discussing it a few days ago. She had gestational diabetes and was curious.
How are you two doing today?

I am the opposite. I eat when I am stressed. I was a smoker about 15 years ago and due to not being able to light up a cigarette when stressed, I now turn to food. So today there was no stress and that make the day easy. Easy or not....I generally can't wait for the day to be over. It's almost 9pm and I am happy to be going to bed soon. LOL I had a feeling the "picture uploading" would be a bit complicated for you..ha! That's OK...just do like you said and change your profile pic now and then.

I forgot about Thursday being a fast day and I made plans to have dinner with my daughter before she leaves on a trip so I'll have to do it Friday. I wish I had thought about it this morning cuz I would have fasted today to get it it of the way. No formal exercise today but a few hours of yard work in the hot sun.
Barb, how are you holding up? Have you cut back on your non fasting days?
Did we lose Sophie? I hope not, I was enjoying us all getting to now each other better.
