What are you all eating on the days you do not fast? I find that I am eating less....not because I want less, although sometimes that is exactly the case, but because my fast day is on my mind, and all I can think about is that I don't want to screw up and gain the weight back. Soooo, I am not eating as much on my "feast days". Anyone else?

Exactly! I've done well on my "feast" days by following a Weight Watchers healthy eating diet as often as possible. I also know that if I want to eat out or make lasagna or go to a dinner party, there is much less guilt involved if I choose to do that. Psychologically, I've never felt better while losing weight!

I hear ya! Today was a "feast" day. I made "pork chops and sauerkraut" with mash potatoes. Generally I will eat 2 chops. Now I only eat 1 and that was really enough. I also cut the mash potato portion in half. It's funny because I was completely full and now I can see how I gained all this weight....my portions were far more than my hunger needed. I was so used to piling the food on my plate. When we were kids we had to eat all that was on our plate before we could leave the table. ugh! Is it any wonder why I ate so much as an adult! Mindless eating due to old habits.

I have a "portion" problem. Even when I eat a salad, it's a mixing bowl size! I know it's a little smaller now, but still too much. I over ate this week. Saturday was my brother's surprise 65th birthday party, yesterday was Mother's Day buffet brunch, and today is dinner out with friends. I'm totally sure I won't see much of a weight loss this week, but my whole mindframe is different since starting out on the 5:2. Days like these used to throw me right off the horse (so to speak). Now, I climb right back on and continue as before. I figure I might as well be doing it this way than going BACKWARDS to not doing anything at all. Actually, I find it to be more painful now to go backwards than not. I'm as pleased with my mental changes as I am with my weight changes. Moving on!!

I like that thought, "Days like these used to throw me off the horse. Now, I climb right back on and continue as before". That is the perfect way to look at it and it's exactly what I do. However, I am finding that my "fast days" seem like an investment and when I weigh myself and discovered I did lose something, I don't want to screw it up. So all week long I keep that in mind....but I do have my days when I just eat too much. But I am still losing, which is the beauty of this diet.
