I watched the PBS show on the 5/2 plan. I teach nutrition at a community college and was shocked to find the science behind the plan. I am in the process of reading Mosley's book. I start a new 6 week class Tuesday and thought I would try the plan for 6 weeks and see how it goes. Had black coffee this AM and will prepare a meal for my wife for dinner and will keep my calories to under 600. I think I could easily go without food but would like to stay on the plan long term if the 6 weeks goes well.

Hi Roger, Welcome! Thank you for sharing with us - it's especially interesting being you teach nutrition. My husband has been on this diet with me since we started about 3 weeks ago. I do the 500 calories on our fast days (Monday and Thursday), but he doesn't eat anything on his fast days. I've lost 8lbs and he's lost 16lbs (plus he plays tennis every day). I look forward to following your thoughts, recipes, etc.

Hubby and I have been on this diet for about 2 months now. He lost 20 and I lost 12. He walks 4 miles a day so that helps. Please stop back often and share your progress.

Today is my first day. I exercise five days a week, walking 4 miles a day, yoga three times a week, Hiking up mountains and have not lost weight. In fact I have gained five pounds but then dropped three. I am 148 lbs now. I hope this works. I've tried everything else. I normally eat fish and vegetables anyway, so I don't know what is wrong.

Wow...you certainly have more motivation then I've ever had. LOL Lots of exercise is certainly going to keep you fit. As for weight loss, they tell me that your body gets used to the activity of your normal day thus it may seem like your body should be burning fat but it's actually creating muscle and that weights more.....and I'm sure you already know that. This diet will jump start you if nothing else. Good luck with it and please stop back and let us all know how it's going for you.
