Just like to say howdy and welcome. Please don't be shy, post away, ask questions, invite friends, have fun.
All I ask is that you play nice! ;D
Also...this forum is primarily for those living in the USA. All are welcome of course but there is a very large and good forum for those living in the UK. The UK is where this diet's fame originated. The UK's forum is a wonderful support place. However, I as well as other American's found it somewhat difficult due to their "weight measurements' and many of their foods are unavailable here in the US. Thus I decide to start a forum for us here in America.
Please enjoy your visit and don't be afraid to offer any suggestions on board topics etc.

Hi Barbara,
I'll bite. I'm just starting this 5:2 diet and found you in my searches. I'd like to lose about 75 lbs. and have tried all kinds of things. I recently started Atkins, on which I dumped 7 lbs. in one week and then hit a plateau. Then I saw this diet on TV and like the idea of it. I'm on my second fasting day today and have been maintaining my comfort by sipping homemade chicken broth. I'm looking forward to seeing tips and success of others here!

I think you may have found the diet for you! I tried all the diets too. I lose it and gain it right back. That is because I cannot keep the diet up forever...it's too hard. I am not into having my diet the center of my life. I don't want to spend my days focused on it. So this diet allows me to focus only 2 days a week. I can do that....I can do that forever! I love this diet! Please have a look around and check out all the categories and boards. As time goes on we should have more members to add to the support. Have fun and bookmark us so you can come back often.

So glad I found this website. I started the 5:2 diet one month ago and have lost 6 lbs. It's coming off slow but at least it is coming off. I, too, have tried them all only to stay hunger. The first 2 weeks were hard. I was hunger and did cheat some. I'm wanting to lose 60 lbs. so I know I'm in it for the long haul. However, it is getting much easier. I picked Monday's and Thursday's for my fast days. However, I have changed one thing. I don't eat breakfast. Just my coffee (which I have to have sugar, so have to count), then I have lunch and dinner. I found that if I don't eat in the morning, I don't get hungry. I think this diet is something I can keep doing. I'm always wanting to know what foods to buy that seem to work for others on the diet. Salads are getting old.
Thank you for starting this forum.

I missed this when you first posted. I'm so glad to see a new member posting! I have between 60-70 lbs to lose myself and am very glad I happened to find the PBS documentary that spurred my interest in this way of "dieting". I've lost 7.5 lbs this month and even though I'd love the scale to move a little more, I'm pleased that mentally/psychologically this diet works just fine for my head! Wishing you much success.........

Lydia HI Lydia, I too find it better not to eat breakfast on my fast days. And I totally agree that this is a diet I can keep doing for as long as it takes to reach goal. I've lost 7.5lbs in 5 weeks. I wish it were more, but I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and I know I'm going to be very pleased with the results. I had a lovely snack today..........I took cherry tomatoes and sliced them cut side up. Drizzled a little olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic salt and roasted them in the oven for about 1/2 hr at 350 degrees. They were so sweet and delicious and I plan to incorporate them into my fast days on Mon and Thurs. Best of luck to you! Stephanie
