I've decided to start my diet today.
I hope your site takes off. I've been reading the UK one and it's great but I have to do a lot of looking up of things like weights, measurements, and foods.
My background to type here is dark blue and very difficult to see. Is there any way to turn it white?
Good luck to both of us! Cyn

Welcome cyn...glad you signed up. We do need members. This is a fairly new forum so I am betting it will take a little time to get a good following. The UK board is the reason I created this one. I too had the same problems with their weights, measurments and foods. It's just a different language that I did not want to have to figure out all the time and also we can't get many of the good recommendations here in the US.
Anyway...I am surprised that your background is blue. Mine is white. I will have to check and see what is going on with that. You may have some control if you go to your profile but I will look further into it. No one else has mentioned it till you.

CYN..I just checked all the board design settings and the board itself where we write our post is set to be "white". I also signed on with my IPAD and it is still white. Not sure why your's is dark blue. I am perplexed. If anyone else has the same problem I will look into it further but at this point I am not sure what else to do. It may be your computer browser.

Thanks for checking into it. Now that I reply the background is white. I'll see what happens next time I start a new thread. My fast went really well! Someone (maybe you?) posted a Good Morning America clip of M Mosley being interviewed. He said he has trouble around 3:00 then it goes away and he lasts til supper. At 3 I was quite hungry, stomach growling but like he said it disappeared and then I was fine. I do have trouble with eating at tv time so I saved some calories to have a Yonanas banana. So all in all a great first day.

So I have a few sugar free life savors and a cup of tea. I find a cup of tea or coffee cures my munchies for a few hours. Then of course it's time for bed. I've been doing this diet tof a few months now so I have to say that I've gotten really use to adapting and frankly do not feel as hungry as I did at first.

Hi Cyn, Just wanted to say hello and welcome. My fast days are Monday and Thursday. Sometimes I have to switch my fast day if something comes up - like this Monday, I'm taking a friend out to dinner, so my fast days next week will be Tuesday and Thursday. Good luck with everything and keep posting.

I made it through 2 more fasts with no problems. I did a weigh in Saturday and lost .6 pounds, which for me is good since I've lost nothing for many months. My husband is kind of doing the diet and lost 12 pounds, gotta love it. Tomorrow is another fast day for me. I am sick with a cold and assuming it's still ok to fast. Anyone know?

It will probably be easier to fast when you're sick - If you're like me, you don't have much of an appetite anyway. My husband loses at a much faster rate also. I get soooooooo annoyed! haha

Wow...you are doing great! And I know what you mean about the "hubby". Mine has lost significantly more than me. He keeps showing off by making me watch him put new holes in his belt. Time for a new belt! I'm losing at a steady rate but not as much as him....and he gets to eat more too. Not fair I tell ya! Ha!

Stephie-You were right, fasting is quite easy when you're sick. Another one down. How are you all doing?

LOL I am losing at a slow but steady rate. About a 1 1/2 lbs a week. I've only had one or two fast days that were difficult to get through. Usually it has to do if I am dealing with any drama in my life....times when I always used to gorge myself all day long was my way of dealing....but not anymore. I am learning just by pushing myself past those hunger feelings, that I don't need the food to get past it.

I'm feeling some better but still no energy. I'm taking my workout time and taking a nap, grrr. I've never been on a weight loss diet before but my dr did put me on a special diet and I lost 1 pound a week. I dropped 20 pounds then hit a plateau. I'm hoping 5:2 can take me down another 20 pounds. 1 pound a week is soooo slow. I'm doing another fast tomorrow. I find I dread the thought of them but doing them hasn't been hard for me. Weird. I certainly don't look forward to them!

I hate them too Cyn. But I also hate my Zumba days. Neither is fun yet! haha But I'm finally at a stage where I feel I need to stop giving up on things and start forcing myself to keep going on no matter what. Besides my 50th high school reunion is coming up at the end of September soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo that in itself is a good incentive and it's nice to have a short-term goal in mind.

I have to say that today was a hard "fast day". I was starving all day. I wish there was a 0 calorie hard candy that I could keep eating all day to help with the in between meal cravings. Water did not help like it usually does.

Barb, I didn't have an easy fast day today either. Your soup just made me hungrier! So I had a salad at lunch time, 2 pickles, and the soup for dinner - I did add a few saltine crackers (okay, FIVE). I know I went over my 500 calories, but when I think about it, I don't ever have such a low calorie day as today so I can't let myself feel badly about it. Marching right along..............

p.s. I found a picture of 2 bare feet standing on a scale on the internet. I now have it as my desktop picture on my laptop that stays open all day long for me to look at!

Must be the day as I had a harder time today too. I didn't eat til about 3 and then just had a tomato but the morning was a bit rough. I did a little bit of the Zumba DVD today, just learning the steps. It looks real good so far. Stephie, you motivated me to give it a try since you wanted to know how it is. THANK YOU! Maybe there is something to this buddy system. Now I will go through a couple hours of tv but I'm pretty sure I'm safe for tonight.
As a side note, I am about 3 hours from Albany and I used to live in Florida. Small world.

Cyn - So wait........all you had today was a tomato? And I figured your weren't too far from me in NY. What's the name of your town in MA? I'm glad if I helped you try out that DVD! What that the Zumba Gold DVD? I saw it on Amazon and I'm wondering if I should order it. I still find it impossible to make it through the entire hour class without sitting down at least twice. My heart pounding, out of breath, and my terrycloth sweatband on my head just soaked. Not a pretty sight! HAHA

I had a tomato then had supper around 6, chicken, broccoli, and another tomato. I find if I eat in the morning then I am hungry all day so I try to avoid food on fast day mornings. I am supposed to take pills with food in the morning so I have to come up with another plan for long term.
I'd rather not say what exact town I live in but it's between Worcester and Springfield near the Mass Pike.
The DVDs I have are not the Zumba Gold. I can't remember the name of the set but there are 5 DVDs in the package and it was about $60 on amazon. I should be feeling much better soon and will try them more to give you an update. My daughter has told me lots (most) people can't keep up with the Zumba classes so you shouldn't feel bad. Haven't you only done a few classes? Give yourself a break, you'll get there. I read today that sweat is fat crying cuz it's leaving, lol. Sounds good to me.

I feel the same way about eating in the morning. Once I eat, I start thinking about the next time so I try to wait til afternoon. I saw on Amazon there are a few different 5cd Zumba sets to choose from. Yes, I've gone to 4 classes now, the 5th one today. Really, I feel like a bull in a china shop LOL

Good job Cyn...Also, I know what you mean about taking meds in the morning. I can't skip mine but i have to eat something with them. So I do coffee, one scrambled egg and a few strawberries. But you are right...it kicks up my food cravings.
